Hi Everyone,
I just finished re-reading my last post and realized there were many errors; sorry about that. I usually have Ron check it but didn’t have the time since we have to grab good internet connections whenever and wherever we can and they disappear quickly in rural spots :)
We got all our chores done in Helena yesterday and then relaxed and ate dinner and I even watched a TV show while posting! We haven’t watched TV for more than 4 or 5 hours since we left Albany on July 3rd! It’s amazing how I don’t really miss it when we are traveling this way, since we are too busy enjoying everything that nature has to show us in these beautiful surroundings... We do put the truck radio on sometimes to see what’s going on in the world but there is so much bad news that I think it’s actually better to take a break from it. Also, on that same idea, when we arrived at Helena yesterday it felt really strange being in a city area. It takes some getting used to after being in such rural environments....
Last night, there was another storm brewing which produced a lot of wind and lightning in our area but we didn’t get any rain out of it. These storms out West can be quite impressive and a little frightening at times, but they do produce beautiful sunsets and rainbows :)
We are on the way to Henry’s Lake area in Idaho to spend the afternoon exploring and camp overnight.
It was a beautiful place to stay and the lake were loaded with pelicans and ducks and hawks. We settled into camp and then went for a walk. They have miles of hiking paths around the State Park and we spent about 3 hours exploring and birding. It was a beautiful place to take a walk. We came across a few large holes in the ground which are probably badger homes because they were noted to be in that particular trail. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see one of them..
We headed out this morning and will soon be out of Idaho and once again head into Wyoming. As we drive through Idaho it quickly becomes apparent that we are in farm country (think Idaho potatoes). The acres of crops are amazing; especially the wheat fields that contrast with the blue sky. This is where all the raw products come from for your bread and breakfast cereals.... As we make our way through The Grand Teton Park area we find the mountains covered in haze. Apparently, there are fires producing smoke from several adjoining states that are obscuring the view. Thankfully, it was not that way when we spent all our time here. Can you imagine if the only chance you had to view that magnificent mountain range was affected by that???
We are planning to go to the Green River Lake area and spend a few days there fishing. Ron is itching to get fishing there since he told me that it’s a great place to get some beautiful fish. We will leave paved road and will drive on about 30 miles of dirt road to get to our destination. Ron says that it’ll be fine to bring the camper in there and it’s worth the drive....
We may be out of contact there for a while so I’ll be touching back when we come back out with stories about the ‘big one’ that got away :) Actually, about the big ones we landed!
