Hello Everyone,
It was a laid back kind of a day yesterday. Eileen and I did some laundry this morning and then a bit of shopping in Jackson (this town has amazing cowboy boys!!) and then we took a drive up to the Teton Park to explore by car. I wasn’t up to doing much more than that so the most activity I could handle was getting in and out of the car to scan for wildlife. We happened to come by a road called Morman Row and Eileen remember that it should take us to the famous barn depicted in the all the artwork throughout this area. It was a beautiful example of a community of homesteaders and was very interesting to see in person. I’m so glad Eileen noticed the road sign and we found it! We saw bison grazing throughout this area.
We stopped by the Visiter Center outside of Moose to pick up some local area maps and continued to explore. As we drove through Antelope Flats looking for wildlife the skies began to darken and we could see a storm brewing over the Tetons. It was apparent that there was heavy precipitation over the higher elevation. Eileen thought that it could perhaps even be in the form of snow at the top since there are still several sections of the peaks that are covered in white. Imagine that, almost August and still snow!!
While driving through this area we simply had to stop and view and photograph the wildflowers in the open meadows. The Lupine (blue flowers) was amazing both in color and fragrance!
We continued down along thee Gros Ventre River where we saw hawks flying overhead and mule deer grazing in the fields. This area is prime for wildlife viewing if you get the right timing and conditions.....
On our return to camp we settled down for dinner & I relaxed for a while. Although I am improving, I was beginning to feel my breathing acting up again, so it was time to rest and settle for the evening....
The boys are coming home tomorrow so things will get busy again around here....
