Hello Everyone,
We have been busy exploring new areas and continuing to be amazed at all the natural beauty and amazing wildlife around us. We are so fortunate to get to witness so many incredible things.
My body has been acting up badly so we needed to modify plans, both activity as well as diet, to suit the current conditions and decided to do more laid back things for the day.
Yesterday morning I walked over to the post office to get some things in the mail for the family (Hi Kids; I miss you!!) and luckily there are easy walking trails around here that allows access to many needed stores. After that Eileen and I checked out the local library (right across the street!) and purchased and checked out some books. It’s a large, beautiful, modern library that has become a great resource for us while we’re here.
We drove over to Teton Village which is a lovely area that includes shopping, dining and activities that are set at the base of the Tetons. We were going to take the tram ride to the top of the mountain but decided to hold off until a day with clearer skies. It is a huge complex that is THE place to go to ski in Jackson Hole. We shopped for a few gifts and then enjoyed a drink break at a little cafe and relaxed for a bit until the wildlife show began at 5:00. In the center square there was a Raptor show that had a Harris Hawk, a Great Horned Owl a demonstration of falconry. It is amazing to see those magnificent birds of prey up close and personal.
Afterwards, we drove the back road along the Tetons and were fortunate to spot several beavers along the stream side. They were very cute! We decided on dinner at Dornan’s which was wonderful because we sat on the deck, which literally overlooks the Snake River and the Grand Tetons; what a view!
On our way to dinner we had spotted a large group of people alongside the river and figured they were looking at a moose and since we had already seen several we chose not to stop. However, after dinner the crowd was still there so we determined we had to check it out. Thank good ness we did! There was a magnificent, massive bull moose there grazing by the river. What a spectacular specimen! Both Eileen and I have never seen that large of a moose that close....
After arriving home it was time to download my photos and I am so pleased with the new camera. It has taken clear, detailed photographs and I am looking forward to documenting the rest of our trip on film...
