Hello Everyone,
It's been a long but good day. We are in New Carlisle, In at a campground by Hudson Lake for the night. The people are really nice but we discovered that there was a railroad right next door!! Thankfully, after a n active late afternoon it appears that the frequency of the trains has slowed totally down for the night :) Luckily, Ron spotted a sign on our way in to the campground for a Nature Preserve so after dinner we went over to check it out. What a neat place! We only had time to explore for about 45 minutes because they lock the entrance gate at 7:30 (and apparently will lock in your vehicle if it's left after that ;YIKES!). It was a great place for birding so we're going to try to get back there very early (7:30 or so) to explore at greater depth before we get back in the truck to head to Illinois and visit with my brother and his family (I'm so excited I can't stand it!!!) Hopefully, we'll get to see some birds in the nature preserve. We saw one today that we haven't taken the time to try to identify but perhaps it's a juvenile.. (Dave do you want to help out here ??) Ron ended our short stay at the preserve picking some fresh black raspberries; YUM!
It's time to go over our route for tomorrow and get ready to rest up from a long day but it's hard to go inside on such a beautiful evening....
